Details

A Chestnut Mushroom or Browncap is a strain that grows just a bit browner instead of white, giving it a tan-coloured top and a better flavour. Chestnut Mushrooms are also allowed to grow into larger sizes to be sold as “Portobellos.” Sometimes Portobellos are also called “Flat Chestnut Mushrooms” or “Brown Breakfast flats”. No matter the name mushrooms are among the richest sources of selenium and Vitamin D in the fresh produce aisle. which is good news for vegetarians, whose sources of selenium are limited.

We purchase all our mushrooms daily from growers in Portadown.
